Workplace Policies
Custom Workplace Policy Development
Creating and updating workplace policies tailored to your business, your industry, and your workforce. Regulator-ready documentation that protects you from day one.
Generic Policies Create Real Risk
A workplace policy is only as useful as its relevance to your business. Template policies downloaded from the internet, or copied from another business, frequently fail to account for your industry-specific obligations, your applicable modern award, your state or territory WHS requirements, or the actual practices of your workplace.
When a policy does not reflect reality, it provides no protection. Worse, it can be used against you. An employer who relies on a policy that says one thing but does another faces harsher scrutiny in the Fair Work Commission, SafeWork audits, and anti-discrimination proceedings. The gap between your documented policies and your actual practices is where legal risk lives.
Custom policies eliminate that gap. They are built around how your business actually operates and the specific laws that apply to it.

Policy Development FAQs
While there is no single list mandated by the Fair Work Act, certain policies are effectively required to meet your obligations under workplace health and safety legislation, anti-discrimination laws, and the Fair Work Act. At a minimum, most businesses need policies covering bullying and harassment, discrimination and equal opportunity, WHS, leave entitlements, code of conduct, grievance and complaints handling, and social media use. Industry-specific requirements may add to this list.
Generic templates create significant risk. They often fail to reflect the specific requirements of your industry, your applicable modern award or enterprise agreement, your state or territory WHS legislation, and your actual workplace practices. A policy that does not align with how your business actually operates provides little protection in a dispute or regulatory audit. Custom policies are always the safer choice.
We recommend a formal review at least annually and whenever there is a significant legislative change, a new modern award variation, or a material change to your business operations. As part of our retainer packages, we proactively update your policies when legislative changes affect your obligations.
Yes. We create comprehensive employee handbooks that consolidate all workplace policies, employment conditions, and expectations into a single document. The handbook is tailored to your business, clearly written in plain English, and formatted for easy distribution, whether printed or digital.
We provide a rollout plan that includes a summary of changes for management, a communication template for staff, acknowledgement forms for signed receipt, and training session outlines where required. For significant policy changes, we recommend a consultation period with staff before formal implementation.
We conduct a policy gap analysis that reviews every existing policy against current legislation, relevant modern awards, and best practice. You receive a written report identifying gaps, outdated provisions, and areas of risk, along with a prioritised plan for updates. This can be done as a standalone project or as part of onboarding to a retainer package.
